MODULE INFORMATION AND REFLECTION

MODULE INFORMATION

Intro To Spatial Design is about spatial relationship and model making. In this module, the lecturers have taught us about how to transform design principles that we have identified into forms which provide function, and many more skills required for us students in the foundation level who plan to go into courses such as architecture and interior design in the future. This module has also taught us how to translate our ideas and plans into sketches, diagrams and models. Not only that, this module has taught us how to design spaces catered to certain individuals. Which is a critical skill that would be required in our degree courses, and in the future as well. The main purpose of ITSD, is to educate us students about the fundamental principles and functions of space to prepare us for our degree.

REFLECTION

During week 1 and 2, ITSD was not what i expected it to be. As the name suggested, I thought it was going to be about interior spaces and design. However when the first project was assigned to us, I did not see any relation between spatial design and identifying points. However over the weeks and months of learning during the ITSD lectures and tutorials, I started to understand and see the relation between them and finally started to understand why we could not start with an assignment like the final one, where we design a space for a certain individual. ITSD has helped me appreciate the spaces around me because i now understand the amount of work and thought one has to put into a space for it to be properly developed. Overall, I feel that this module has benefited me tremendously in terms of understanding the design principles and process and in terms of model making as well thanks to my lecturers and tutors.
