Geometry and Form
Assignment 1, Geometry and form.
The task for this assignment was for us to come up with 3 tattoo stamps with designated design elements and principles. We were then required to transform those 2d tattoo stamps into 3d models.
If you scroll down to the project gallery, the first model on the left has point and symmetry and its design element and principle. They are shown by the points which make up a shape that is symmetrical no matter how it is divided. The model in the middle's design element and principle is plane and repetition. The planes are repeated throughout the model and connected to each other by interlocking. The final model on the right's design element and principle is shape and rhythm. a small oval shape on the top gradually gets larger to a certain point where it then starts to decrease in size again, showing rhythm.
This assignment recapped the design elements and principles i learned in foundation through model making and tattoo stamps. It was a good assignment to start with as it refreshed my memory and focused on the basics. Even though it was more a less the same level as the assignments in foundation, I still struggled a little however it was a good thing as it got me back on track. What we learnt from this assignment was crucial as it was the foundation for the upcoming assignments.
